Description
PL2303HX USB/TTL/UART/RS232 converter – 3.3V/5V output – Arduino
USB-UART/RS232 adapter converter – 3.3V/5V output – PL2303HX – Arduino
Universal converter module with USB – UART – RS232 output. It allows programming of Arduino boards (e.g. MultiWii) and others with RS232/ TTL input that do not have a USB connector on their board.
Description of USB-UART/RS232 Converter
- Controller based on PL2303HX chip
- compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.
- supply voltage to an external circuit 3.3V or 5V (Note: when using the converter together with the Multiwii, it should be powered from an external source)
- Drivers to download from this page dividers „files”
- For connections, it is sufficient to use
- GND
- TXD
- RXD
- Supply the controller board with its own voltage (not from a USB converter)
- Two LEDs to indicate communications
- Proper connection to the motherboard is very important – any other connection may damage the board electronics or FTDI.
- The price includes the converter itself, without the USB cable or other wires.
- Designed for any board with TTL/ RS232 (TX/RX) input
- NOTE! PL2303 controller does not work with Windows 8.0 / 10, additional drivers needed to make it work. To do so, read How to upload a driver for PL2303HX – Win8.
Procedure for using the converter with Arduino and similar circuits
If you want to use the converter to upload a program to an Arduino or similar circuit, you should reboot the entire external circuit (reset button on the Arduino PCB) immediately after compilation (and at the beginning of uploading).
This is how the programming sequence is defined, with an unrestarted microcontroller the program may not be uploaded.
